Funding from Cheshire’s police and crime commissioner is set to benefit young victims of crime.
Embrace Children Victims of Crime (CVOC) has been successful in its application to PCC David Keane’s Safer Communities express grant fund to buy essential, educational and recreational items for families in the area.
The fund takes money from criminals under the Proceeds of Crime Act and reinvests it back into communities.
The charity is solely focused on supporting children and families harmed by crime after it was established in Cheshire in the aftermath of the Warrington Bombings.
It works closely with front line police officers and partner agencies to support some of the most vulnerable children at risk in society. It also provides emotional support to children who need someone to talk to by pairing them with a case worker.
In the last year, it has supported more than 52 children and families in Cheshire.
PCC David Keane said: “Embrace does a fantastic job in responding to the changing needs of young victims of serious crime and their families helping them cope recover and move on.
“During this time of unrest, it is vitally important that the needs of children and families harmed by crime, particularly those facing unprecedented hardship, are supported.”
